The oldest board game still played today is Go, a game with only a
few very simple rules but such complex strategy that many players
dedicate their entire lives to its mastery.

The game is played on a plain grid of black lines, where two players
alternate placing black and white "stones" on the intersections,
simultaneously trying to capture one another's stones, avoid capture
of their own stones, and surround territory.

The aesthetics of the game are as important as the game itself. The
best boards are thick, solid pieces of yellow hardwood; the best
stones are made from slate and clamshells; the stones are kept in
elegant wooden bowls. Although most people play with much less
expensive boards and stones, it is possible to spend many thousands
of dollars on a nice Go set.

A good introduction to the game:
Q. What did one pickle say to the other?
A. "You mean a great dill to me."
Dear Howdy -

While I certainly accept your right to believe whatever you wish
about abortion, you should attempt to use valid arguments. I looked up
Psalm 139 and found that all it says is that God "knitted me together in my
mother's womb." This in no way implies that the "me" in question was a
human person during the time in the womb. Indeed, abortion opponents
commonly beg the question in just this manner, assuming that an unborn fetus
is a human person. It is first necessary to give an adequate definition of
"person" and then show that the entity in question meets the criteria
stated. You would be supprised at how difficult it is to develop a
definition of 'person' that includes fetuses and excludes everything else,
such as your big toe, chimpanzees, etc. As you can probably guess, I am a
professor of philosophy and I think that this entire issue is much more
complicated that most people on both sides of the issue realize.

Dear Professor,

Thanks for your letter. When the Bible says "ME" then
it means what it says. It does not say "what was to
become me". Perhaps you would be interested in
Luke 1:41. One unborn baby (human) is greeting
another and showing the proper respect because
One is God.

As far as "chimps" are concerned, there is no soul
in animals which is the main distinction between
humans & animals. All humans from the moment
of conception will live forever.

If a man loses his big toe, leg, or arm is he less
human. Of course not! Do I have a funeral when
I clip my nails - preposterous. The "humanist"
portion of any human is his soul. Lose the soul
and he ceases to be human (see corpse).

Your Devoted Friend,
"The Wind That Changes Everything"
Isaiah 40:29

Listen to the audio broadcast!

We were just beginning the process of building our Ministry Headquarters. At that point, all that was on the field was the footings for the building and a barn that was on the property. Volunteers were in the process of renovating and weatherproofing that old barn for storage when some friends donated a truckload of office furniture to our ministry. It would be a few days before we could bring that furniture into the barn, so we had to leave it next to the barn, which meant it had to be covered to protect it, of course.

Wouldn't you know, that moment came at a time when I was out of town and there was no one available to get that tarp over the furniture except my dear wife. She's a strong and resourceful farm girl, so she thought nothing of it, but getting that tarp up and over all that furniture turned out to be quite a challenge for one person; especially for a woman alone. And she realized that all her pulling and straining wasn't going to do it. Then she had a wonderful gift from God - a strong wind suddenly came up. Suddenly that wind was lifting the tarp up and over the furniture, just where it needed to go. That wind blew strategically several times until the job was done; leaving my dear wife once again amazed by God.

I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "The Wind That Changes Everything."

What an incredible picture of how God gets things done. What a picture of what He wants to do in your life right now; especially in some challenge where all your pulling and straining just isn't getting it done.

Listen to these familiar, encouraging words from our word for today from the Word of God. There're found in Isaiah 40:29, "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak." If you're feeling weary, if you're feeling weak right now - great! That qualifies you to receive God's strength for your weariness, God's power for your weakness. Isaiah goes on: "Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

I've watched soaring birds - eagles, hawks, and even turkey vultures. I never see them before mid-morning, when the air is warm enough to start rising and creating those thermal updrafts. And those birds don't get where they're going by frantically flapping their wings. They ride the winds of God. That's what my wife ended up doing that day when her efforts could not get the job done; she let the winds of God carry her. That's how we are all supposed to live - not frantically flapping our wings, but relaxing and letting God carry us where we could never fly in our own strength.

Some of us are such driven, type-A, "make-it-happen" people we miss the miracle of being carried by a God who makes it happen. We get all stressed, brittle, frustrated, exhausted, depleted because we don't allow the God-takeover that is where the power really is.

Paul seemed to understand the mysterious synergy between our effort and God's energy. He said in Colossians 1:29, "I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me." Yes, I work hard, but I'm doing it in His strength, His energy, not mine.

I can't forget that picture of my wife struggling with that tarp by the barn and a wind from God suddenly lifting what she could not carry, moving what she could not move, helping her do what she could have never done otherwise. The wind of God is blowing your way today to lift you, to empower you, to do what you have not been able to do. It is the wind of God that changes everything!

CHINA (VOM-Canada)
Gao Zhisheng, a prominent lawyer who had his legal license suspended by Chinese authorities for representing religious rights, faced an attempt on his life January 17th. China Aid Association reported Gao was traveling in Beijing when a vehicle with an obscured license plate suddenly stopped in front of him. He narrowly missed hitting the vehicle, stopped and got out to investigate. The driver of the other car then attempted to run down Gao, but he was able to dodge out of the path of the vehicle. As the car sped away, the newspaper covering the license plate blew away and the plate number was reported. It is believed the driver was a security agent of the Chinese government. Throughout the incident, a military vehicle was observing nearby.

Pray Gao will continue to experience God's protection even though his work angers those in authority. Pray Gao and his friends within the house churches will continue to share Christ with boldness and even share their faith with their persecutors. Pray with confidence for Chinese authorities, knowing God's hand is not shortened that it cannot save.

INDIA (VOM-Canada)
On January 14th, approximately 40 Hindu militants opposed to a children's home and school being constructed in the Northeastern Indian village of Tikri in Uttaranchal came to the construction site and threatened to kill the workers who were building the new facility. The workers all fled for their lives. Ashish Massey, head of the North India Evangelistic Association (NIEA) funding the project, has also been similarly threatened by the militants. Khumi Massey, a staff member of NIEA, reported some of the local villagers allegedly complained to the activists that the Christians had come to their village to convert them. In a separate incident in West Bengal, the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority demolished a church building and orphanage on January 16th, despite on-going legal proceedings. According to Indian Express, the development authority claimed the buildings were impeding a planned road expansion. At the time of its destruction, the orphanage was home to 30 children and 20 women.

Pray those who are serving these little ones in the name of the Father will know His protection. Pray the displaced children and women in West Bengal will find housing even better housing than what they had before. Pray God will prove Himself strong on behalf of His children and many Hindus will find joy in Jesus as their Savior.

(Compass Direct)
Hindu extremists attacked Christians in two incidents in Andhra Pradesh state on January 12th and 13th. Seven Christians, including two pastors, sustained injuries. In Nizamabad district on January 12th, a mob of about 100 extremists attacked a group of Christians led by the pastor of a Pentecostal church as they distributed Christian pamphlets near a bus stand. Police intervened before they could burn the pastor alive. On January 13th, in the same district, members of the Hindu extremist group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh dragged five people from a 5-year-old girl's birthday party and beat them. Among the victims was Pastor Nagani Swami David, who was kicked unconscious and left at a Hindu temple.

Pray God will comfort and heal those who were injured in these attacks. Pray the Christians will forgive their enemies and make Jesus' love known among the Hindus. Pray God will work a miracle of His grace and power to stop these Hindu extremists from any further attacks on Christians.

INDONESIA (Compass Direct)
Government officials in Bandung, West Java, ordered eight house churches in the Rancaekek Kencana housing complex to cease meeting in private homes starting Sunday January 15th. Each church received the order by letter last Friday the 13th, following a meeting the previous day attended by local government officials, police, the commander of the local military and the leader of a local Muslim forum. Several of the churches in the complex met for worship that Sunday anyway, saying they had no alternative venue. The churches first applied for permits in 1993, but were rejected. Under a ministerial decree issued in 1969, all religious groups must apply for permits-and since neighbors must give their approval before a permit is granted, the decree is a huge obstacle for churches meeting in Muslim majority communities.

Pray God will give His strength and courage to these believers as they continue to meet and willingly face the consequences. Pray Christians worldwide will offer fervent prayers to the Lord God on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Indonesia. Pray the Holy Spirit will move in power to bring Muslims to a saving knowledge of Christ.

LAOS (Compass Direct)
An itinerant evangelist, pastor and father of four children, was brutally murdered in southern Laos the week before Christmas. The body of Aroun Voraphorn was found on December 23rd, abandoned on a jungle road near his home village of Huaysiat. His wife last heard from him on December 18th, when he told her by telephone he would arrive late for his youngest daughter's birthday party as he was buying a birthday cake. Religious motives for the killing cannot be ruled out, as the evangelist had been imprisoned for his faith in 1996. At a funeral service on Christmas Eve, his wife Metta Voraphorn pleaded with Christians in Laos to continue preaching the gospel fearlessly, as her husband had done.

Pray God will comfort Vaoraphorn's family with His special peace. Pray the murder of this innocent man will increase the zeal of his Christian friends to spread word of our God of peace. Pray the light of the Holy Spirit will overcome the spiritual darkness in Laos.

(Missions Insider)
After becoming believers in Christ a few months ago, six families were verbally ordered by the local chief and police of the village to relocate to another village. They were told villagers did not want any Christians living in their village of Nongthorn, Lowngam district, Saravan province. In addition, several Lao Christian leaders and their wives are missing for no apparent reason. They have disappeared with no trace of their whereabouts.

Pray God will protect the harassed families and the missing Christian leaders with His strong arm. Pray He will strengthen them to stand fast in the faith. Pray the Lord will guide them and wherever they go their witness will be to His glory.

UZBEKISTAN (Compass Direct)
Compass Direct reported a program televised regionally in Uzbekistan last summer has left entire communities convinced that a Protestant congregation is an "extremist" group worse than fundamentalist Islam. Entitled "Zalolat" (Disaster), the 22-minute "exposé" sensationalized a police raid last June against the Full Gospel Church in Urgench, capital of Khorezm province in Northwest Uzbekistan. Interspersing scenes from the raid with interviews with local police, judicial and Muslim officials, the program represented Pastor Ruzmet Voisov and his congregation as "Christian extremists" guilty of breaking the laws of Uzbekistan and trying to destroy national stability.

Pray as Christians in Uzbekistan live in the light of Christ they will see God defeat the plans of the enemy. Pray moderate Muslims will speak up against the violence of Islamic extremists. Pray God will give many Muslims dreams and visions that will open their hearts and minds to Jesus as their Savior.
What’s happening in Israel!

1-24-06 www.thegoldenreport.com

By: Jerry Golden

It’s amazing that the entire world keeps asking Israel to give up more land, to make more concessions and to over look the fact that the “Palestinians” never give up on killing us. Or for that matter they never give anything, and have never once that I know of complied too any demands of the UN, US or anyone else. The Disengagement of Gaza is a very good example. Somehow we came to the point to have a Prime Minister who could be totally controlled by George W. Bush and be forced to expel over 9,000 Jews from homes in Israel making them homeless and refugees in their now country, they lost their jobs, livelihoods, communities and are scattered throughout Israel living in tents and hotels. Not to mention what it has done to the children who are so traumatized that they will be scared by life, certainly will grow up with no confidence in any Israeli Government. The one thing the PA promised to do was to disarm the Hamas, Islamic Jihad and others in Gaza, instead they have kept the Kassam rockets coming into Israel even trying now to reach Askhelon. To add insult to injury they are running with gun in hand in the PA elections and the brainwashed “Palestinians” who are controlled by the PA will for reason no sane (non-Islamic) person can understand are voting for Hamas.

Former Army Chief of Staff Moshe Yaalon said in a speech yesterday. The Gaza Strip has been transformed into “Hamasstan, Hizballahstan and al Qaedastan.” In the present circumstances and the foreseeable future, said the former general, the pre-1967 boundaries will for Israel be neither secure nor defensible. Israeli chief of staff Lt. Gen. Dan Halutz now says that the future will be with more “Palestinian” violence, in fact shortly after the PA election this Wednesday we here in Israel expect to see a far heavier outbreak of a higher level of warfare. Many polls have been taken, and they all come out with the same conclusion, Israelis are very pessimistic about their future.

The one looming event sure to befall us is Iran’s nuclear capability, one way or the other it seems sure to bring us into the next Israeli war, this one could cost more lives than all the others put together. What I find amazing is how the rest of the world is putting the pressure on Israel to go after the Iranian nuclear reactors, when they know this is not just a threat to Israel but to the entire world. At the present Israel would not be able to do this alone, at least not without using nuclear weapons themselves. The distance is to far for the Israel Air Force to make more than a one strike offensive, by the time they refueled be it in air or return home it would be to late to strike the second. time. The weapon we keep hearing about the EMP that would disable the country is a possibility, but if Israel used such a nuclear weapon opening the door for others to do the same the world would of course condemn Israel as if the whole event was Israel’s fault anyway. And that is most likely or at least a very strong possibility what could very well happen. Because one way or the other all nations will turn against Israel in the end days. Zechariah 14:2.

One thing is sure to come out of this, the entire world will blame Israel for the war that is about to occur and Jews will be running for their lives. Mostly from Europe, and this is why God has touched me hopefully you and others to prepare to rescue as many as we possibly can.

I will be making another trip to Cyprus next week, it is a very important trip and one I ask you to be praying about. I must return to Turkey shortly there after for so much needs to be arranged there. All of this travel leaves me with little time to keep correspondence with you, but I will do my best. There is within my spirit a certainty that we must be about the Father’s business on faith. Knowing that He will touch those who he will to send the needed support. The larger boat must be purchased soon and we are very short and must not be in such a hurry that we buy the wrong boat, one that is to small or not safe.

In the mean time Paypal has closed our account holding over $2,800 without explanation. We know of course that it is big brother behind the whole thing. We are wondering what might be their next move one thing is certain this ministry is not popular with certain governmental agencies. Without your prayers and support we are very vulnerable for we are but part of the Body that God has joined us to. When we reach out to feed a hungry Israeli child or save a Jewish life, you are part of that effort to please God and bless the Apple of His eye.

One of the things Connie and I are now wrestling with is the possibility that in order to move forward with the ministry God has given us it may be necessary for us to move to Cyprus or Turkey for a while, I am asking you to pray with us over this. Neither of us ever want to leave Israel this is where we belong as Jews, we will however be obedient for it is our daily prayer, Father what would you have us to do? For we are aware of the importance of the calling on our lives and the urgency of the time we now live.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, for our son Joel and all the IDF soldiers. Pray for all those who have come to fight the Islamic enemy. Pray for this Ministry and your part in it. Shalom, jerry golden
One of the challenges skeptics present is for extrabiblical evidence of
biblical events and individuals. By God's grace, there are many examples
which could be pointed to. In the Old Testament there are more than 50
persons named whose existence is verified by sources other than the Bible.
Some 12 of these individuals have left visual records (statues, busts, wall
carvings, etc.) recording their appearance. The New Testament specifically
lists 27 people named in other records. Of the six surviving
representations, four are Roman Emperors.

Here are a few samples:

Shishak, the Egyptian king who plundered the Temple during the reign of
Rehoboam (1 Kings 14:25-26).

2 Kings 9:1-10:36 - Jehu, king of Israel, who took power in a bloody coup;
the only surviving likeness of a king of Israel or Judah.

Hazael, king of Aram, enemy of Israel (1 Kings 19:15, 17 ; 2 Kings
8:7-15,28-29; 9:14-15 ;10:32-33; 12:17-18; 13:3 ,22, 24,25; Amos 1:4 ).

Tiglath-Pileser III, king of Assyria, who invaded Israel (2 Kings
18:19,29;16:7, 10; 1 Chronicles 5:6,26; 2 Chronicles 28:20 ).

Sargon II, king of Assyria, who defeated Ashdod and completed the siege of
Samaria and took Israelites into captivity ( Isaiah 20:1 ).

Sennacherib, king of Assyria, who attacked Judah but was unable to capture
Jerusalem ( 2 Kings 18:13-19:37 ).

Tirhakah, king of Egypt, who opposed Sennacherib ( 2 Kings 19:9 ).

Esarhaddon, king of Assyria, who succeeded his father Sennacherib (2 Kings

Merodach-baladan , king of Babylon, whose messengers Hezekiah showed the
royal treasury, much to the indignation of Isaiah (2 Kings 20:12-19).

Xerxes I, king of Persia, who made Esther his queen (Esther ;Ezra 4:6).

Darius I, king of Persia, who allowed the returning exiles to rebuild the
Temple in Jerusalem (Ezra 4:24-6:15 ; Haggai 1:1 ,15).

Augustus , Roman emperor, 27 B.C.-A.D. 14, when Jesus was born ( Luke 2:1 ).

Tiberius, Roman emperor, A.D. 14-37, during Jesus' adulthood and crucifixion
(Matthew 22:17,21; Mark 12:14-17 ; Luke 3:1; 20:22-25; 23:2 ;John 19:12,15

Claudius, Roman emperor, A.D. 41-54, who ordered the Jews to leave Rome
(Acts 11:28;17:7;18:2 ).

Herod Agrippa I , ruler of Judea, A.D. 37-44, who persecuted the early
church (Acts 12:1-23 ;23:35 ).

Aretas IV, king of the Nabateans, 9 B.C.-A.D. 40, whose governor in Damascus
attempted to arrest Paul ( 2 Corinthians 11:32 ).

Nero (referred to as Caesar in the New Testament), Roman emperor, A.D.
54-68, who Paul appealed to (Acts 25:11,12,21; 26:32; 28:19; Philippians

The Faithfulness Of Your King

When the wild storms of life rail against your ship
and you cry out for the wind to pass,
Reach out for the anchor of God's gracious love
for His promises always last.

And when you take a stand for what is right
and it causes others to turn on you,
Just know God's love is the same every day
for He's always faithful and true.

Then if heartache and disappointment come
and bring along financial strife;
Remember God said you'll not beg for bread
for He'll care for you all of your life.

And when you must walk through the valley
of darkness, mourning, and grief.
You will find that the tender love of God
is the thing that will bring you relief.

Though this world changes rapidly every day,
to one constant you can always cling.
The passage of time cannot change or remove
the faithfulness of your King.

Sheila Gosney (A 'T & H' Reader)

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That
I would see the the goodness of the Lord in the land

Verse of the Day

* * * Four important things to KNOW: #1) For ALL (Americans, Muslims, Jews, Catholics, Hindus, Buddhist, Asians, Presbyterians, Europeans, Baptist, Brazilians, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc.) have sinned & fall short of the glory of God. #2) For the wages of above (see #1) are DEATH (Hell, eternal separation from God, & damnation) but the Gift (free & at no charge to you) of God (Creator, Jehovah, & Trinity) is Eternal Life (Heaven) through (in union with) Jesus Christ (God, Lord, 2nd Person of The Trinity, Messiah, Prince of Peace & Savior of the World). #3) For God so greatly loved & dearly prized the world (Americans, Muslims, Jews, Catholics, Hindus, Buddhist, Asians, Presbyterians, Europeans, Baptist, Brazilians, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc.) that He even gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, that whosoever (anyone, anywhere, anytime - while still living) believes (trust in, relies on, clings to, depends completely on) Him shall have eternal (everlasting) life (heaven). #4) Jesus said: "I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH, & THE LIFE. No one (male/female - American, Muslim, Jew, Catholic, Hindu, Buddhist, Asian, Presbyterian, European, Baptist, Brazilian, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc. ) comes (arrives) to the Father (with GOD in Heaven) EXCEPT BY (through) ME (no other name). *** This wonderful loving GOD gives you the choice - - - (Rev. 3:20) {Please note that church membership, baptism, doing good things, etc. are not requirements for becoming a Christian - however they are great afterwards!!!} *** Jesus said, "Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction (Hell, damnation, eternal punishment), and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life (Heaven, eternal happiness, forever with God), and only a few find it.

D I S C L A I M E R If someone should ask if it's legal to download songs
found on various non-commercial sites, such as this one.

Well, I'm neither a lawyer nor a technician,
and I've begun to wonder if it was legal for
us to tape music off the radio back when
tape recorders first came into being.

And were we committing a crime when we recorded
a movie shown on TV with our VCRs? And was it
really legal to buy a dual-deck recorder for the
express purpose of duplicating cassettes?

My answer to all of the above is, "I don't know."

Nonetheless, here is a formal statement in
some kind of legalize that appears to apply
to this kind of file availability:
