Thursday

Two UNC student travelers, obviously nervous about their flight,
bought some flight insurance at the terminal.

They couldn't decide who to name as beneficiaries, however.

They ended up each naming the other and happily boarded the plane.

Comments:
A lawyer opened the door of his BMW, when suddenly a car came along
and hit the door, ripping it off completely. When the police arrived
at the scene, the lawyer was hopping up and down with rage,
complaining bitterly about the damage to his BMW.

"Officer, look what they've done to my Beeeemer!!!" he shrieked.

"You lawyers are so materialistic, you make me sick!!!" retorted the
officer, "You're so worried about your stupid BMW, that you didn't
even notice that your left arm was ripped off!!!"

"Oh no...." replied the lawyer, looking down and noticing for the
first time the bloody stump where his left arm had once been.
"Where's my Rolex???"

"Do you believe in life after death?" the boss
asked one of his employees.

"Oh, yes sir," the employee replied.

"Well, alrighty then... that makes everything just
peachy keen," the boss went on. "After you left
early yesterday to go to your grandmother's funeral,
she stopped in to see you."

God used D.L. Moody, the great nineteenth-century evangelist,
to help bring two continents to repentance. It is estimated he
traveled more than one million miles and preached the
life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ to more than one hundred
million people!

What characteristics made Moody stand out as God's man to
reach the masses in Europe and North America? He was a man of
faith. He was a man of purity. And he was a man of prayer.
Moody asked God to move the mountains of unbelief in the souls
of men and women, youth and children--and God answered!

Moody had this to say about prayer: "Some men's prayers need
to be cut short at both ends and set on fire in the middle."

Are your prayers on fire? Are they prayers that reach the
ear of God? Are they prayers that move the hearts of people?

Let me briefly describe the kind of prayer God delights to
answer. If you take these principles to heart, watch for God
to anoint your prayers with fire!

First, we must believe. Do you believe God is able and
willing to answer your prayers? "I'm sure He is able," you say,
"but I'm not so sure He is willing." Hebrews 11:6 says,
"Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone
who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he
rewards those who earnestly seek him."

Prayerlessness is a problem, but an even more serious problem
is unbelief. Many Christians don't believe God will actually
grant their petitions. No wonder their prayers lack fire!
The Bible clearly teaches that God answers prayer offered to
Him in faith.

Second, we must ask. "You do not have, because you do not
ask God" (James 4:2). Do you remember the story of the blind
man in Mark 10? He was so excited about meeting Jesus. When
they met, Jesus asked him, "What do you want me to do for
you?" Jesus wanted to be asked! God wants to pour out His
blessings if we will only ask.

The blind man came right to the point: "Rabbi, I want to
see." He didn't beat around the bush, as we often do. We try
to twist God's arm with our long, detailed petitions and
explanations. What we need to do is cut off the flowery words
and get to the point. That sets our prayers aflame.

Third, we must confess sin. The psalmist wrote, "If I had
cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened"
(Psalm 66:18). Sin douses the flames of prayer. Unconfessed
sin extinguishes more prayers than we imagine.

King Saul anguished when he realized, toward the end of his
life, that God no longer was answering his prayers (1 Samuel
28:6). He had let unconfessed sin build a wall between himself
and God. Is anything standing between you and God? If so, confess
your sins and experience the renewal of God in your life again.

Moody preceded each of his evangelistic crusades by urging
God's people to pray. The fires of revival that swept various
cities were not lit by Moody alone. They were ignited by the
prayers of ordinary Christians who believed God, confessed
their sins, and then offered prayers God delighted to answer.

Verse of the Day

* * * Four important things to KNOW: #1) For ALL (Americans, Muslims, Jews, Catholics, Hindus, Buddhist, Asians, Presbyterians, Europeans, Baptist, Brazilians, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc.) have sinned & fall short of the glory of God. #2) For the wages of above (see #1) are DEATH (Hell, eternal separation from God, & damnation) but the Gift (free & at no charge to you) of God (Creator, Jehovah, & Trinity) is Eternal Life (Heaven) through (in union with) Jesus Christ (God, Lord, 2nd Person of The Trinity, Messiah, Prince of Peace & Savior of the World). #3) For God so greatly loved & dearly prized the world (Americans, Muslims, Jews, Catholics, Hindus, Buddhist, Asians, Presbyterians, Europeans, Baptist, Brazilians, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc.) that He even gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, that whosoever (anyone, anywhere, anytime - while still living) believes (trust in, relies on, clings to, depends completely on) Him shall have eternal (everlasting) life (heaven). #4) Jesus said: "I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH, & THE LIFE. No one (male/female - American, Muslim, Jew, Catholic, Hindu, Buddhist, Asian, Presbyterian, European, Baptist, Brazilian, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc. ) comes (arrives) to the Father (with GOD in Heaven) EXCEPT BY (through) ME (no other name). *** This wonderful loving GOD gives you the choice - - - (Rev. 3:20) {Please note that church membership, baptism, doing good things, etc. are not requirements for becoming a Christian - however they are great afterwards!!!} *** Jesus said, "Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction (Hell, damnation, eternal punishment), and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life (Heaven, eternal happiness, forever with God), and only a few find it.

D I S C L A I M E R If someone should ask if it's legal to download songs
found on various non-commercial sites, such as this one.

Well, I'm neither a lawyer nor a technician,
and I've begun to wonder if it was legal for
us to tape music off the radio back when
tape recorders first came into being.

And were we committing a crime when we recorded
a movie shown on TV with our VCRs? And was it
really legal to buy a dual-deck recorder for the
express purpose of duplicating cassettes?

My answer to all of the above is, "I don't know."

Nonetheless, here is a formal statement in
some kind of legalize that appears to apply
to this kind of file availability:
