Happy Valentines Day

If I could speak in any
language in heaven or
on earth but didn't love
others, I would only be
making meaningless noise
like a loud gong or a
clanging cymbal. If I
had the gift of prophecy,
and if I knew all the
mysteries of the future
and knew everything
about everything, but
didn't love others, what
good would I be? And

http://www.kateconnick.com/postcards/valentinesdogs2.jpg

if I had the gift of faith
so that I could speak
to a mountain and make
it move, without love
I would be no good to
anybody. If I gave
everything I have to
the poor and even
sacrificed my body,
I could boast about it;
but if I didn't love others,
I would be of no value

whatsoever. Love is
patient and kind. Love
is not jealous or boastful
or proud or rude. Love
does not demand its
own way. Love is not
irritable, and it keeps
no record of when it
has been wronged.
It is never glad about
injustice but rejoices
whenever the truth
wins out. Love never
gives up, never loses
faith, is always hopeful,
and endures through
every circumstance.

May You Always
Experience This
Kind Of Love,
Dr. Howdy

There is a time for everything,
a season for every activity
under heaven. A time to be
born and a time to die. A
time to plant and a time to
harvest. A time to kill and
a time to heal. A time to
tear down and a time to
rebuild. A time to cry and
a time to laugh. A time to
grieve and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones
and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a
time to turn away. A time to
search and a time to lose.
A time to keep and a time to
throw away. A time to tear
and a time to mend. A time
to be quiet and a time to
speak up. A time to love
and a time to hate. A time
for war and a time for peace.

May this be
your time to laugh,
embrace & receive
personal peace,
Dr. Howdy

Dear Howdy,

A Valentine’s Day Prayer

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” – I CORINTHIANS 13:4-7 NIV

Lord,
Because love is patient…
Help me to be slow to judge, but quick to listen. Hesitant to criticize, but eager to encourage, remembering your endless patience with me.

Because love is kind…
Help my words to be gentle and my actions to be thoughtful. Remind me to smile and to say “Please” and “Thank You”
because those little things still mean so much.

Because love does not envy or boast, and it is not proud…
Help me have a heart that is humble and sees the good in others. May I celebrate and appreciate all that I have and all that I am, as well as doing the same for those around me.

Because love is not rude or self-seeking…
Help me to speak words that are easy on the ear and on the heart. When I’m tempted to get wrapped up in my own little world, remind me there’s a great big world out there full of needs and hurts.

Because love is not easily angered and keeps no record of wrongs…
Help me to forgive others as you have forgiven me. When I want to hold onto a grudge, gently help me release it so I can reach out with a hand of love instead.

Because love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth…
Help me stand up for what is right and good. May I defend the defenseless, and help the helpless. Show me how I can make a difference.

Because love always protects and always trusts…
Help me to be a refuge for those around me. When the world outside is harsh and cold, may my heart be a place of acceptance and warmth.

Finally, because love always perseveres…
Help my heart continually beat with love for You and others. Thank you for this day when we celebrate love, and for showing us what that word really means. Amen.

*Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls
around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that
your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind
of sufferings. --1 Peter 5

*An elephant's trunk is as important to it as our hands are to us.
With its trunk, an elephant can pick up a pea or throw a huge, heavy
log. A full-grown elephant's trunk is about seven feet long (2
meters) and weighs about 300 pounds (140 kilograms). This amazing
organ contains more than 100,000 muscles and no bones at all.

The trunk is an extension of the elephant's nose and upper lip. At
its tip, there are two delicate, fleshy buds that act much like our
fingers. The animal uses it for drinking (by sucking in water and
spraying it into its mouth), for washing (by spraying its body), for
communicating (by trumpeting through it), for smelling, for
breathing, and in many other ways. It can hold more than a gallon of
water. Remember who the elephant's Creator is? See Genesis 1 for details.

of the Holy One is understanding. --Proverbs 9

German scientists dug 50 meters down and discovered small
pieces of copper. After studying these pieces for a long
time, Germany announced that the ancient Germans 25,000
years ago had a nation-wide telephone net.

Naturally, the Russian government was not that easily
impressed. They ordered their own scientists to dig even
deeper. 100 meters down they found small pieces of glass
and they soon announced that the ancient Russians 35,000
years ago already had a nation-wide fiber net.

American scientists were outraged by this. They dug 200
meters down & found absolutely nothing. They happily
concluded that the ancient Americans 55,000 years ago
had cellular telephones.

*Centuries ago, English was mostly spoken by a few million people in
the British Isles, and there were a few local dialects such as Irish
English. But in the last century, the language has exploded across
the world and diversified, picking up many words and pronunciation
styles from local tongues.

Measured by the number of people for whom English is their first
language, 72% speak American English and 16% use British English.
6% use Canadian English, 5% use Australian English and 1% use New
Zealand English. There are also dozens of minor dialects, including
Caribbean, South African, (Asian) Indian, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh.

Even within American English there are significant regional
differences. Boston English is different from the language spoken in
Atlanta, and Chicago English is different from both of them.

*All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching,
rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that
the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
--2 Timothy 3

A woman meant to call a record store but dialed the wrong
number and got a private home instead.

"Do you have 'Eyes of Blue' and 'A Love Supreme'?" she asked.

"Well, no," answered the puzzled homeowner. But I have got
a wife and eight children."

"Is that a record?" she inquired.

"I don't think so," replied the man, "but it's as close as I want to get."

Recently a man in Paris nearly got away with stealing
several paintings from the Louvre. However, after planning
the crime, getting in and out past security, he was
captured only 2 blocks away when his Ford Econoline ran out
of gas. When asked how he could mastermind such a daring and
otherwise brilliant crime and then make such an obvious error...

... He replied: "I had no Monet to buy Degas to make the Van Gogh."...

The Meaning of Persons:
Protecting the Unborn

In a tragic circumstance, a severely developmentally disabled
twenty-two-year-old woman was raped and impregnated. She has no family
and lives alone in a state of Florida housing facility. She is now at
least five months pregnant and because of her disabilities is unable to
even identify the rapist.

On May 13, Florida Governor Jeb Bush asked state lawyers to appoint a
guardian for the unborn child. He believes it is appropriate to
intervene in this case because it is a "uniquely troubling situation."
In a statement he said, "Given the facts of the case, it is entirely
appropriate that an advocate be appointed to represent the unborn
child's best interests in all decisions." The governor is absolutely
right.

Now in this case nobody is even suggesting the woman have an abortion,
but civil liberties and pro-abortion groups are howling, and they have
filed a brief to block the appointment of a guardian for the child.
Appointing a guardian, they say, "would go against a 1989 Florida
Supreme Court ruling that said fetuses cannot have guardians because
they are not legally people."

That is precisely what is at issue here, and the pro-abortion groups
know it. If an unborn child can have a state-appointed guardian to look
after his or her interests, it is ludicrous to then maintain that the
unborn child is not a person. And if unborn children are persons, their
rights -- including the right to life -- must be protected by the
state.

And that is why these same pro-abortion forces are opposing the Unborn
Victims of Violence Act in Congress. The House of Representatives bill
is called "Laci and Conner's Law." Laci Peterson's body and the body
her unborn son, Conner, were found washed ashore near San Francisco.
Scott Peterson, Laci's husband and Conner's father, has been charged
with not one, but two murders, because California like many states has
a fetal homicide law. The pro-abortionists are not happy about this
case.

If the Congress passes the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, federal law
will declare that the killing of an unborn child through an act of
violence is murder -- the killing of a person. Thus while Laci and
Conner's Law is not about abortion -- in fact, it specifically excludes
abortion -- the bill is on a collision course with the abortionists. In
principle, pro-choicers simply refuse to grant any legal status to the
unborn.

They worry that the so-called "right to abortion" is being eroded. And
they're right. It's eroding because abortion rests on an untenable
notion that the unborn child is not a person and doesn't deserve
protection.

But that, you see, runs counter to what most Americans believe about
the murder of Conner Peterson. Though not yet born, he was murdered.
And there ought to be a law. Even when they are still in the womb,
children have a right to protection.

Similarly, the unborn child in Florida has a right to protection as
well. Governor Jeb Bush and Secretary of Children and Families Jerry
Regier deserve a hearty round of applause for seeking to protect both
mother and child.

As Ken Connor of Family Research Council wrote in a recent ORLANDO
SENTINEL op-ed, Bush and Regier "are simply seeking to help those whose
interests would go unrepresented. They seek to help the helpless.
That's a cause around which we can all rally."

Here in Brazil it is not still the "lovers' day"

Dear Howdy,
It is no longer enough to be smart -- all the technological tools in the world add meaning and value only if they enhance our core values, the deepest part of our heart. Acquiring knowledge is no guarantee of practical, useful application. Wisdom implies a mature integration of appropriate knowledge, a seasoned ability to filter the inessential from the essential.
You are GREAT!

Verse of the Day

* * * Four important things to KNOW: #1) For ALL (Americans, Muslims, Jews, Catholics, Hindus, Buddhist, Asians, Presbyterians, Europeans, Baptist, Brazilians, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc.) have sinned & fall short of the glory of God. #2) For the wages of above (see #1) are DEATH (Hell, eternal separation from God, & damnation) but the Gift (free & at no charge to you) of God (Creator, Jehovah, & Trinity) is Eternal Life (Heaven) through (in union with) Jesus Christ (God, Lord, 2nd Person of The Trinity, Messiah, Prince of Peace & Savior of the World). #3) For God so greatly loved & dearly prized the world (Americans, Muslims, Jews, Catholics, Hindus, Buddhist, Asians, Presbyterians, Europeans, Baptist, Brazilians, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc.) that He even gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, that whosoever (anyone, anywhere, anytime - while still living) believes (trust in, relies on, clings to, depends completely on) Him shall have eternal (everlasting) life (heaven). #4) Jesus said: "I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH, & THE LIFE. No one (male/female - American, Muslim, Jew, Catholic, Hindu, Buddhist, Asian, Presbyterian, European, Baptist, Brazilian, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc. ) comes (arrives) to the Father (with GOD in Heaven) EXCEPT BY (through) ME (no other name). *** This wonderful loving GOD gives you the choice - - - (Rev. 3:20) {Please note that church membership, baptism, doing good things, etc. are not requirements for becoming a Christian - however they are great afterwards!!!} *** Jesus said, "Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction (Hell, damnation, eternal punishment), and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life (Heaven, eternal happiness, forever with God), and only a few find it.

D I S C L A I M E R If someone should ask if it's legal to download songs
found on various non-commercial sites, such as this one.

Well, I'm neither a lawyer nor a technician,
and I've begun to wonder if it was legal for
us to tape music off the radio back when
tape recorders first came into being.

And were we committing a crime when we recorded
a movie shown on TV with our VCRs? And was it
really legal to buy a dual-deck recorder for the
express purpose of duplicating cassettes?

My answer to all of the above is, "I don't know."

Nonetheless, here is a formal statement in
some kind of legalize that appears to apply
to this kind of file availability:
