Is The Supreme Court Really Supreme?

One hundred fifty years ago, a Constitutional
crisis took place similar to
one that we have
been threatened with over Roe v. Wade —
one in which no moral
consensus could be
achieved between the three branches of
government. The
first constitutional crisis
was over the hot-button issue of that day:

slavery. The Supreme Court declared an
act of Congress unconstitutional, and
president, Abraham Lincoln — to his ever -
lasting credit—refused to
recognize the
Court's decision.

"Fit Bodies, Fat Minds"
Alison Thomas

In his book Fit Bodies, Fat Minds, Os Guinness describes how
Christians have "simultaneously toned up their bodies and dumbed down
their minds."(1) He connects the contemporary form of Christian
anti-intellectualism with Friedrich Nietzsche's prediction of "the last
man." Losing touch with transcendence, people would eventually confuse
heaven with happiness and happiness with health. Nietzsche's book Thus
Spake Zarathustra is the perfect parody of the contemporary jogger and
dieter, says Guinness. Health has replaced heaven. Athleticism is the new
form of asceticism. Self-mastery and fulfillment are promised through
exercise and positive thinking.

I have been a fitness instructor for five years-it is my favorite
recreational activity. How invigorating it is to strengthen and stretch
tired muscles after a long day. I am also a romantic optimist, constantly
on the lookout for the tiniest glimmer of hope during frustrating
circumstances. While there is nothing wrong with exercise and optimism,
our challenge as Christians today is to deliberately reflect on our
lifestyle and thought-style on a daily basis. How can we live healthfully
and joyously without subtly degrading the service of God into the service
of self?

If we fail to think critically about the motivating factors underlying our
lifestyle choices, our minds will be terribly unfit. William Lane Craig
adds, "Intellectual impoverishment with respect to one's faith can thus
lead to spiritual impoverishment as well."(2) I am not suggesting that
intellectualism is the solution to anti-intellectualism and spiritual
starvation. Intellectualism as concerned only with the disembodied life
of the mind is contrary to biblical teaching. But we are to love God with
every inch of our being-with our heart, our soul, our mind, and our
strength. Thinking as a spiritual discipline involves the whole
person-soul and body. It is as active and demanding as rigorous physical
exercise; it is neither automatic nor easy. Moreover, thinking deeply
about matters of faith is not just a purely human activity relying solely
on one's own strength; it must operate from the utter reliance on God's
Word and Spirit.

Such dependence on God in the midst of discipline should remind us that
our deepest motivation to be thinking Christians should not be merely to
win arguments, but to captivate the lost with the love of Christ as we
ourselves have been captivated. As powerful alternatives to the gospel
proliferate all around us, let us prayerfully increase our fitness to
fight for the gospel in ways that are persuasive, imaginative, and

Let me see if I get this right: in smarmy, liberal America-ville, it’s cool
to celebrate a painting of the virgin Mary covered in dung, a picture of
Jesus marinating in urine, a play in which Jesus is depicted as gay and TV
shows and movies that mock Christ and Christianity; but it is uncool to run
a Danish cartoon slamming Islam’s irrational rage, because that would be a
“gratuitous assault” on the Muslim religion? Well, cock-a-doodle-do.

Case in point: the quickly-approaching-cheap-toilet-paper status New York
Times has decided to refrain from running anything that might be offensive
to Muslims, while it bends over backwards to backhand Christians. How
conveeeeeenient. Dennis Rodman sitting with 2nd graders in a Japanese girls’
school with his hair on fire is less obvious than the anti-Christian bent
within this completely secularized, so-called “progressive” rag—I mean

Now, having said that, I want to also say that I believe it is the right and
privilege of the The Times, in this great American experiment, to say and do
whatever the heck they want to—even if it is at the expense of Christians.
As a matter of fact, I kind of like it when they mock that which 80+ percent
of America believes. I derive the same kind of joy from their deriding God
and biblical ethics that I did from Howard Dean’s uttering his now infamous
primal “Argh!” during the 2004 primary. By having the secularized Sally’s
going after God and that which is good, they effectively distance themselves
from the GP and commit PR suicide. So, I kind of celebrate the
anti-Christian, anti-morality vibe these mooks sell; and I’m really getting
comfortable with their ridiculing Christ, because they’re losing more and
more readers who cannot stand their manifest anti-Christian yarbling.

I see The New York Times as the Marilyn Manson of the print world minus the
goth make-up—and the Bose voice processor, of course. You remember Manson,
don’t ‘cha? Remember how scary he was with his black hair, white contacts,
leather unitard, fake breasts, metal teeth, tearing up Bibles on stage and
hanging out with LeVay? He was hell on two skinny white legs scaring
grannies to death. Where is he now? I’ll tell you where he is: He’s on
the has been list of pop stars right next to Vanilla Ice and The Spice
Girls. He overplayed his satanic hand. People got sick of his anti-God and
morality bullshtick, his CD’s sales plummeted, and now he’s at home doing
scary watercolors. Manson mocked God, and God mocked him—with irrelevancy.

Therefore, I say let The Times and their emulating ilk ridicule
Judeo-Christian ethics. Let them celebrate the denigration of Christian
symbolism. The more they do it, the more they marginalize themselves.

God loves you so much that He died for you!!!

Verse of the Day

* * * Four important things to KNOW: #1) For ALL (Americans, Muslims, Jews, Catholics, Hindus, Buddhist, Asians, Presbyterians, Europeans, Baptist, Brazilians, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc.) have sinned & fall short of the glory of God. #2) For the wages of above (see #1) are DEATH (Hell, eternal separation from God, & damnation) but the Gift (free & at no charge to you) of God (Creator, Jehovah, & Trinity) is Eternal Life (Heaven) through (in union with) Jesus Christ (God, Lord, 2nd Person of The Trinity, Messiah, Prince of Peace & Savior of the World). #3) For God so greatly loved & dearly prized the world (Americans, Muslims, Jews, Catholics, Hindus, Buddhist, Asians, Presbyterians, Europeans, Baptist, Brazilians, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc.) that He even gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, that whosoever (anyone, anywhere, anytime - while still living) believes (trust in, relies on, clings to, depends completely on) Him shall have eternal (everlasting) life (heaven). #4) Jesus said: "I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH, & THE LIFE. No one (male/female - American, Muslim, Jew, Catholic, Hindu, Buddhist, Asian, Presbyterian, European, Baptist, Brazilian, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc. ) comes (arrives) to the Father (with GOD in Heaven) EXCEPT BY (through) ME (no other name). *** This wonderful loving GOD gives you the choice - - - (Rev. 3:20) {Please note that church membership, baptism, doing good things, etc. are not requirements for becoming a Christian - however they are great afterwards!!!} *** Jesus said, "Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction (Hell, damnation, eternal punishment), and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life (Heaven, eternal happiness, forever with God), and only a few find it.

D I S C L A I M E R If someone should ask if it's legal to download songs
found on various non-commercial sites, such as this one.

Well, I'm neither a lawyer nor a technician,
and I've begun to wonder if it was legal for
us to tape music off the radio back when
tape recorders first came into being.

And were we committing a crime when we recorded
a movie shown on TV with our VCRs? And was it
really legal to buy a dual-deck recorder for the
express purpose of duplicating cassettes?

My answer to all of the above is, "I don't know."

Nonetheless, here is a formal statement in
some kind of legalize that appears to apply
to this kind of file availability:
